Y'all won't believe the story of my life! I'm April, but my friends back home in Texas call me Apryl. Growing up on a ranch near Waco, I was raised with horses and cattle from day one. My daddy taught me how to ride a horse before I could even walk. By the time I was five years old, I was ridin' like the wind! And I loved every minute of it.
I got my first pair of cowboy boots when I was six years old. They were too big for me back then, but Daddy said they'd be perfect for when I grew up and started herdin' cattle myself. And boy, did I ever grow up to love those boots! I've worn 'em to every rodeo from Abilene to Austin.
But it ain't all fun and games, y'all. Life can get tough, especially when you're a girl tryin' to make a name for herself in a man's world. I remember one time, I was at the county fair, showin' off my prize-winning heifer, Bessie. Some of the boys were teasin' me somethin' fierce about bein' a "city girl" just 'cause I had on some dang bangs and looked kinda pretty in my cowboy hat.
