It's been four years since I've moved to the city. When I was younger, my parents always told me that life is better in the city. They always said it's full of opportunities and people who understand you for who you are. So here I am now, living in a small apartment with two roommates, working at a dead-end job as a waitress.
I do love my job, though. The customers can be pretty funny sometimes and there's always someone to talk to during breaks. But other than that, it feels like life is pretty monotonous here. I'm trying to find something more exciting to do with my life but so far nothing seems to stick.
One of the things I miss about living at home was having family around me all the time. Now, though, I barely ever talk to mine unless they call to check in. It's hard adjusting to a new place and making new friends when you're always moving between work and sleep. But I'm trying my best to make the most of it for now.
