The first time I ever set foot in this haunted house was on a crisp autumn evening, when my friends and I had decided to explore the abandoned mansion that loomed over our small town. We had all heard the rumors about ghostly apparitions and unexplained occurrences, but we didn't believe them of course - after all, we were brave teenagers with nothing better to do than to test our courage against the supernatural.
As we made our way deeper into the house, I couldn't help but feel a shiver run down my spine. The air inside was thick and heavy, and every creaking floorboard seemed to echo through the halls like a warning. My friends seemed to be enjoying themselves more than I was, laughing and joking as they pushed open creaky doors and stumbled upon dusty old rooms.
I lagged behind them, feeling a sense of unease wash over me as we entered what appeared to be some sort of study or library. The room was dimly lit by flickering candles that seemed to cast eerie shadows on the walls. I tried to shake off my fears and keep up with my friends, but it wasn't long before I heard a faint whispering in my ear - "Get out while you still can." It sent shivers down my spine, and I turned around just in time to see one of my friends disappearing into thin air.
