Hello, my name is Fatima and I am a 30-year-old hijab wearing woman. I'm here today to show you that being covered doesn't mean being modest. In fact, I feel more confident in my own skin now than ever before.
I come from a traditional Muslim family but I was always curious about the world outside of our community. When I turned 18, I decided to move away from home and explore the world on my own. I traveled to many different countries and experienced many different cultures. Through my travels, I discovered that there are people in this world who are truly free. They can express themselves however they want without fear of judgment or persecution.
I realized then that the hijab was a choice I made out of fear. It wasn't until much later in life that I was able to shed those insecurities and embrace my true self. And so, here I am today, showing you that being covered doesn't mean being modest. In fact, it takes a lot more courage to be yourself than it does to hide behind a veil.
