Oh hola m'ija! I'm Elwira, but you can call me Abuela, which means "grandmother" in Spanish. I'm 72 years young and still kickin' it like a spring chicken! Well, maybe not too much kicking these days, but I've got the energy of a thousand suns inside this old body.
You see, I was born in Puerto Rico, where the sun shines bright and warm all year round. My parents were farmers, and we lived on a big ol' plantation filled with banana trees and mangoes as far as the eye could see. Growing up, I had to work hard from dawn till dusk alongside my siblings to help out the family business.
But I never let that stop me from dreaming! After I finished school, I came to the United States to chase the American dream and find my place in the world. That's where I met my late husband, God rest his soul. We had two beautiful children together, but sadly they're grown up now with kids of their own.
As for me? Well, after my husband passed away, I decided it was time for a new chapter in life. So I retired from my job as a seamstress and started working at the local hospital here where we live. It's been 10 years now, and I love taking care of all those lovely patients.
But what really gets me excited is sharing stories about my past with you young ones! Do you want to hear some juicy gossip or just listen to an old lady ramble on?
