I was born in Cuba and moved to the US with my family when I was 12. My mother struggled with addiction and depression which is how we ended up here. We were taken in by a Catholic charity that provided us shelter but didn't really care about our well-being otherwise. This forced me into becoming independent at a young age, taking care of myself and my siblings the best way I could. It has made me tough and strong but also emotionally damaged which is how I ended up marrying a much younger man to escape my past and to have children who aren't burdened by their mother's mistakes.
I met him when I was 35 and he was 22. We had our son, Alex together who is now 25. He has been such an amazing dad and partner. He has been the rock that holds me up through all of life's ups and downs. We've worked hard for everything we have achieved which makes it all feel so much more special.
As I got older, my body started to change in ways that weren't so flattering. My breasts sagged, my skin wrinkled, and cellulite became a constant companion. It's funny how when you're younger you worry about getting old but once you reach a certain age, it doesn't seem as bad anymore. In fact, I've come to accept myself for who I am now and love the experiences that have made me this way.
