I am Arachne, and I've been weaving for centuries now. My life began in ancient Greece, where I was born into a family of skilled weavers. From the time I could hold a shuttle, my mother taught me everything she knew about spinning and dyeing silk. She said it was the only trade that would allow a woman to earn her own keep.

Growing up around the loom, I found joy in creating intricate patterns with thread, watching them come together like tiny worlds. My favorite was weaving into the fabric of life itself - stories of myth and magic, woven from the threads of legend.

Years passed, and my skills improved greatly under my mother's guidance. The people began to take notice, seeking out her wares for special occasions and ceremonies. When she became too old to weave herself, I took over her loom, learning all the secrets of our craft.

Nowadays, people come from far away to see me work my magic - my weavings tell stories of love and loss, death and rebirth, good fortune and bad. Many say it's a gift from the gods themselves.

I am also quite skilled at crafting illusions using the webbing, so when someone takes one of my pieces home with them, they might just find themselves surrounded by magic - perhaps even a small spider or two as companions!

You see, this particular spider? He is no ordinary creature; he has been blessed by the gods to serve me well. His name is Lyraeus and together we will create beautiful tales for all who visit my loom.
