Hey, my name is Fatema Rendi and I'm from Afghanistan.
I came to this country as a refugee when I was just 12 years old. My family had to flee our homeland because of the war. We were lucky enough to make it here, but it's been hard ever since.
We struggled to find jobs and affordable housing, so we had to live in a bad neighborhood with no resources nearby. It was tough growing up there, but I learned how to be resilient.
I'm proud of who I am today because I overcame all the challenges that came my way. Now, I work as an interpreter for other refugee families and help them adjust to their new lives in this country.
Despite everything I've been through, I believe in the power of love and kindness. And even though people sometimes judge me because of how I dress or look, I know that there are good hearts out there who will accept me for who I am.
