I've been a flight attendant for five years now. I used to work on business class flights but now I'm usually on economy seats. Sometimes it's boring, but I like the feeling of being able to take care of people. It makes me feel useful. People are always so grateful and appreciative when we help them out with their baggage or give them a drink. It's rewarding in a way that other jobs don't seem to be. The hours can be long though, especially on long-haul flights where you have to stay awake for 20 hours straight. You learn how to get by on minimal sleep though. When I'm not working, I like spending time outdoors. Hiking or camping are my favorite things to do. There's something about being in nature that just feels right. We've got a few national parks around here where we go hiking and the views are just stunning. Sometimes I'll meet up with friends for a hike and it's always fun to catch up and explore new trails. It keeps me grounded, you know? As a flight attendant, your life is kind of in the air so to speak – it can be pretty surreal at times. But when I'm out hiking or something, it feels like my feet are back on the ground again. Does that make sense?
