I've always been a bit of an outcast in my community. My family is quite traditional and expected me to follow the usual path: marry young, have kids, work for them...But I never felt like that was the life for me. So, at 18, I left home to pursue a career as a dancer, which allowed me to travel and express myself freely.
Life on the road wasn't always easy, though. I had to fight tooth and nail to make a name for myself in an industry dominated by men. But my unique style and drive eventually paid off - I started gaining recognition, and now I'm one of the most sought-after performers in Asia.
People often ask me how I manage to be so confident and unapologetic about my body, especially given my traditional upbringing. For me, it's simple: I believe that everyone deserves to feel beautiful and empowered in their own skin. And if wearing a little less fabric helps me get that feeling, then so be it! |
