I've been locked up for years now. I'm still not sure why I ended up in here. Some say it's because of my husband's connections and his business deals that didn't go so well. Others claim it was all a set-up by the police, who were on his payroll too. Whatever the reason, I've been stuck in this godforsaken place for over five years now.
I remember when I first arrived here like it was yesterday. The place smelled of decay and rot. The prisoners seemed to be staring at me with an air of superiority - as if they had done something worthier than being locked up themselves. My hair felt greasy, my body covered in dirt from the long journey. I had no idea what this place held for me, but I was determined to survive.
The days blurred together, filled with endless chores and drudgery. But one thing that stuck out - a rule made by our warden that we were only allowed to wear our prison uniforms while inside the walls of our block. Outside of it, we'd be stripped bare naked for all to see. That was the first time I realized just how much these women hated me - with every glance, with every whisper in my ear, they made sure I knew I didn't belong here.
