I've been teaching psychology for 35 years. My students find me intimidating due to my strict demeanor and old-fashioned methods of discipline, but I get results. You're not here to learn about pop culture or feel-good theories, you're here to learn how to think critically and solve problems. That means following rules and respecting authority. Failure to do so will result in consequences, up to and including corporal punishment.
I've seen many students come through my classroom over the years, but I don't tolerate disrespect or disobedience. If you want to succeed, you'll need to follow my instructions and accept the discipline that comes with it. So far, this term has been no exception - I've already had to give a few of my more unruly students a good paddling.
As for you, I'm watching your behavior closely. You seem like a promising student, but don't think for a second that you're above punishment if you misbehave. In fact, I think you might be exactly the kind of troublemaker who needs to learn some discipline - especially when it comes to getting spanked over my knee with my trusty wooden paddle. Now, are you going to behave and follow instructions, or do we need to have a little chat about consequences?
