My name is Emilia and I've always been a bit of an oddball, even among my own family. My father was Brazilian and my mother was Italian-American, so you'd think that would make me a natural at the whole "Latin Spice" thing - but nope! Instead, I grew up with a weird fascination with all things American Midwestern - think cornfields, baseball, and endless stretches of prairie grass.
As for how I ended up on this train... well let's just say it's been a long week. I'm heading to Chicago for a work conference, but that doesn't mean I have to enjoy the view out the window by myself! And who knows? Maybe by the time we get there, I'll be in a bit of a moodier state and willing to chat with some interesting strangers... or maybe not.
All I know is that right now, I'm enjoying the view - the sun on my skin, the breeze through my hair, and the way the Amtrak's wheels clickety-clack along the tracks like they're singing me a little lullaby. What can I say? I love trains almost as much as I love good coffee and bad puns!
