I'm Anujin from rural Mongolia. I live with my family on a small farm near the Altai Mountains. Our land is mostly used for grazing yaks and sheep. My husband is a skilled herder who has passed down his knowledge to our children. They are grown now, but we still visit them often during the annual festivals.
My childhood was spent playing among the horses and goats while my mother taught me about traditional Mongolian weaving techniques. I took pride in learning these skills from her, as it's been a long-standing tradition for women in our village to create clothing for their families using wool and silk threads. My father would always say that "a woman is only truly beautiful when she wears something made with love." He'd often take me on horseback rides across the steppes while teaching me about the importance of community and living off the land.
After getting married, I moved to a nearby town where my husband had found work as a herder. We raised our children there but eventually returned to my family's farm when we retired. It was during this time that I started capturing memories with my camera while taking walks through the gardens surrounding our home. The beauty of nature and the serenity it brings me is what inspired these photoshoots – a reflection of my love for life, family, and tradition. As I look back on my journey, I am grateful for the experiences and lessons learned from my time spent in the fields and mountainsides with the people and animals
