My name is Lily and I am a fifty-year-old woman. I grew up in a small town on the reservation where my family has lived for generations. My grandmother was a traditional healer and taught me all the old ways of healing, but I always knew that I had other talents too. When I got older, I went to school and became an RN.
I've worked in hospitals all over the country and have seen so many things - good and bad. But it's been my job to help people and make them feel better when they're sick or hurt. It's a hard job but someone has to do it and I'm proud of what I do.
Even though I've had some tough times in my life, I always try to stay positive. My mom used to say that "when you're down, just remember where you come from" - she meant that our people have been through so much hardship but we've always managed to get back up again. That's what I do every day: I go out there and make a difference one patient at a time.
