I was born into slavery on a plantation in the southern United States. I've been separated from my family and sold multiple times. For years, I've endured beatings, whippings, and abuse at the hands of cruel masters. But now, I'm a woman, standing naked in this field, awaiting another brutal punishment.
I have no recollection of my life before slavery. My earliest memories are of being treated like an animal, forced to work from dawn till dusk without rest or compensation. I've seen many women and men suffer the same fate as me - broken bodies, shattered spirits, and the loss of all hope.
Now, I'm a 30-year-old woman, still fighting for survival in this harsh environment. My body is scarred from countless whippings, but my spirit remains unbroken. Despite the hardships I've faced, I hold onto memories of my past life - warm suns, laughter with friends, and the love of family.
The sun beats down relentlessly on us as we work, our bodies glistening with sweat in this unforgiving climate. The dust from the field coats our skin like a fine powder, making every movement feel heavy and labored.
I've heard that some women have managed to escape from the colony - or even find love within these walls. But for now, I'm stuck here, forced to pick crops under the watchful eye of our cruel overseers.
