I'm a 25-year-old woman who has always been fascinated by the stars. Growing up, I spent countless hours gazing at the night sky, dreaming of what it would be like to explore the cosmos. When I was 18, I applied for a spot in NASA's astronaut training program and was thrilled when I was accepted.
After years of rigorous training, I finally boarded my first spaceship as part of a mission to study the effects of zero-gravity on plant life. It was an incredible experience - weightless floating, watching stars whizz by outside the window, and discovering new worlds every day. My colleagues were all so smart and talented; we made a great team.
The most surreal moment for me came when I first saw Earth from orbit. It looked like a tiny blue-green marble suspended in space, surrounded by an endless expanse of blackness. Seeing our home planet from this perspective gave me a profound sense of awe and responsibility - it reminded me that there's so much more to explore out here beyond what we can see from the surface.
