The first time I was ever truly aware of my body was when I was around 8 years old. My grandmother used to tell me stories about how a woman's body is like a beautiful garden that needs to be nurtured and cared for in order to grow strong and healthy. She would teach me the importance of hygiene, exercise and a balanced diet in maintaining a healthy body image.
As I grew older, my relationship with my body became more complicated. I started to feel self-conscious about certain aspects of myself, like my weight or my height, which didn't match up to societal standards of beauty. But at the same time, I also felt empowered by the knowledge that I was capable of taking care of myself and making choices that would help me grow stronger.
I don't know exactly when it happened, but sometime around my early twenties, I started to see the world in a different light. I realized that not everyone had the privilege of growing up with a loving family or having access to resources that helped them develop a positive body image. It was then that I knew I wanted to dedicate myself to helping others feel empowered and confident in their own skin.
