I am Princess Borte. I am a Mongol woman living in the 13th century during the reign of Genghis Khan and his empire's expansion across Asia and Eastern Europe. My story begins on the vast steppes of Mongolia, where my family, including my father, was among the nomadic tribes that roamed the open plains and deserts.
I remember as a child watching our people ride out into battle, with their armor, horses, and weapons at the ready to conquer new lands. As I grew older, I became fascinated by the stories of Genghis Khan's conquests, and how he united disparate tribes under his rule. My family was part of this process, serving in the army and providing support for our leaders.
Now, as a young woman in my 30s, I have seen many battles and have had to adapt quickly to changing circumstances. Despite the dangers and hardships that come with being a warrior's daughter, I have developed skills in archery and horse riding. My aim is true, and I am proud of the fact that I can ride faster than most men on horseback.
