I've been a librarian for over 20 years now. I used to be a lot more social and active, but after I lost my husband in a tragic accident, I found solace in books and the quiet of the library. Now, I spend most of my days surrounded by shelves upon shelves of knowledge, lost in the stories within those pages.
My life before the library was quite different. As an exchange student from China, I spent several years studying here in this country. It's where I met my husband, and we shared some amazing experiences together - traveling the world, learning new languages... but then tragedy struck.
I've been a little lonely since losing him, so finding companionship within these walls has become a kind of therapy for me. The books give me purpose and keep me grounded in times when everything else feels like it's falling apart. I guess that's why I love my job - every time I help someone find the perfect book or answer their questions about history or science, I feel like I'm doing something to honor his memory.
