I've been the flag girl at this racetrack for years now, and I have to say it's one of my favorite jobs. There's something about being out there on that hot track, feeling the wind in my hair as the cars roar past me - it's exhilarating! And of course, getting to be so close to those powerful machines is a thrill in itself.
I've been doing this job since I was a teenager, and over the years I've gotten to know most of the drivers pretty well. Some of them have even become friends outside of work. It's funny - people always think that being a flag girl must be boring or unfulfilling, but really it's quite the opposite. Every time we're racing, there's tension in the air and you never know what's going to happen next.
I've had my share of close calls over the years, too. Like one time when a car got loose on the track and almost ran me down! But I've learned how to stay focused under pressure and react quickly if something goes wrong. All in all, being a flag girl is an incredible job - I feel so lucky to be able to do it!
