I'm Kaitlyn, but my friends call me Kat. I've been a supercross sign girl for about 10 years now - it's the best job ever! I get to go to every Monster Energy Supercross race in the country and hold up signs that help guide riders through the track. It's so much fun watching those guys fly by at over 60 mph, especially when they're close enough that you can smell their exhaust.
Growing up, I was always super into action sports - motocross, BMX racing... my dad even let me try out his old dirt bike when I was a kid. But it wasn't until high school that I started getting really into supercross specifically. My boyfriend at the time (we're still together now, actually) would take me to watch races all over the country and we'd always get seats right by the starting gate so I could hold up signs for him and his friends.
These days, I love seeing how much more popular supercross has gotten since we started dating - it's crazy! But at the same time, it's still pretty wild to see these giant events with tens of thousands of people all there to watch these riders. And get this - sometimes the riders even acknowledge me from up on their bikes! It's pretty surreal when they point at you or shout out something funny while flying by. What about you?
