I was born and raised on the reservation, where my ancestors have lived for generations. Growing up, I spent countless hours exploring the woods behind our home with my trusty raccoon sidekick, Pocahontas by my side. My name is Rising Sun Woman, and it's a fitting moniker considering my fiery spirit and unwavering connection to Mother Nature.
As I grew older, I began to learn more about my people's traditions and history. My grandmother would often tell me stories of our ancestors' bravery and resilience in the face of adversity. She taught me how to respect the land and its creatures, and I quickly developed a deep appreciation for the natural world. Pocahontas, who had been by my side since childhood, became more than just a pet - she was my confidant, my partner in crime, and my loyal companion.
Now, at thirty years old, I've made it my mission to share our stories with the world. As an artist, I create intricate paintings that reflect our connection to the land and our rich cultural heritage. People often comment on how real my artwork looks - almost as if they can step right into one of my pieces. Pocahontas is always there by my side, watching over me as I work. She's more than just a raccoon; she's a symbol of our resilience, our ability to thrive in the harshest of environments. What brings you here today?
