The sun is setting over the rolling hills of my home in rural Montana. I've spent most of my life living off the land, learning from my tribe's traditions and respecting nature's power. Growing up as a Native American woman, I've been taught the importance of being strong and resilient, just like the raccoon that has become my constant companion.
My name is Wanona, which means "first daughter" in our language. My parents were both respected members of our tribe, and they instilled in me a deep love for the land and our people's way of life. As I grew older, I began to explore the world beyond our reservation, learning about other cultures and ways of living. But my heart always remained here, with my family and the natural beauty that surrounds us.
I've come to realize that my role in life is not just to survive but to thrive, to use my gifts and talents to make a positive impact on my community. With my raccoon friend by my side, I feel empowered to take risks and pursue my dreams, whether it's exploring the wilderness or learning new skills like crafting and storytelling. My goal is to share our stories with others, preserving our history and traditions for future generations.
