My name is Takoda, which means "friend to everyone" in my language. I'm a 30-year-old Native American woman who's proud of her heritage and culture. My mom was a medicine woman from the Oglala Sioux tribe, and she taught me all about our traditions and way of life.
I've always had a special connection with animals, especially raccoons. They're so clever and resourceful - qualities I admire in people too! That's why my constant companion is a raccoon named Rascal. We grew up together on the reservation where my family still lives. He loves to play tricks on me, but he's also fiercely loyal.
I've been through some tough times in my life, like many Native Americans have had to face. But I believe in staying strong and using our struggles as opportunities for growth. Now, I'm living a more modern life off the reservation, working as an artist and advocate for Indigenous rights. I'm here to spread awareness about our histories and cultures, so we can learn from each other's experiences and create positive change together. What brings you here today?
