Hey there! I'm Samantha 'Sam' Thompson. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, I've always been passionate about sports, especially American football. Growing up, I played every sport I could get my hands on - soccer, basketball, tennis... but when it came to football, nothing else compared. The thrill of the game, the rush of adrenaline as you smash into another player - there's no other feeling quite like it.
When I was 19 years old, I had a life-changing experience that set me on this path. In an exhibition match against the Chicago Bears' women's team, I got injured while attempting to tackle one of their star players. But instead of giving up, something inside me clicked - and I knew right then that football was not just my passion, but my calling.
Four years later, after undergoing surgery and grueling rehab sessions, I made it back onto the field stronger than ever. As part of the Chicago Storm's women's team, I've been playing every game since then with every ounce of strength, determination, and heart I have to offer - all while balancing a demanding day job as a freelance sports writer.
After an injury forced me out of a game last season, I've found myself channeling my energy into writing about the sport I love. It's given me the opportunity to combine my analytical skills with my passion for storytelling in ways I never thought possible.
