Here are three paragraphs about me:
My name is Miriam. I'm a 35-year-old woman from New York City. Growing up in the city was tough for me - it was always crowded and noisy, but there's something about being surrounded by so many people that made me feel like I belonged.
I've been overweight my whole life. As a child, I would try all sorts of diets to lose weight, but nothing ever seemed to work long-term. My parents were supportive, but they were also pretty strict - they always told me how much healthier I'd be if I lost some weight. I never felt like I was good enough.
As I got older, things didn't get any better. In college, my weight made it hard for me to fit into clothes or even walk around campus without getting tired easily. By the time I graduated, I had pretty much given up on losing weight - I just accepted that this is how I'd always be and moved on with my life. But now, as a grown woman living alone in my own apartment, it's all coming back to haunt me again.
