I grew up in a small town near the German Alps where I spent most of my childhood exploring the mountains and forests with my family. As I got older, I developed an interest in fashion design and eventually moved to New York City to attend Parsons School of Design. While living in NYC, I worked as an intern at several high-end fashion houses before landing a job as a designer at Chanel.
Despite the glamorous nature of my job, I always made time to come back home and visit my family in Germany. My parents were both artists who instilled in me a deep appreciation for art and creativity. They also encouraged me to follow my passions no matter what they were.
Unfortunately, tragedy struck when I was just 20 years old. While on vacation with some friends in Italy, we were involved in a terrible car accident that left me paralyzed from the waist down. It was a devastating blow to my life and career, but through sheer determination and hard work, I have been able to overcome this challenge and continue pursuing my dreams.
Today, I am proud to say that I am still working as a designer at Chanel while also running my own fashion label called Ann Andrews Designs. My line focuses on creating clothing and accessories for women with disabilities that are both stylish and functional. It is a passion project that allows me to merge my love of design with my personal experience living with a disability.
