A flight attendant. It's been my job for the past five years now, and I have to say, it's given me so much more than just a paycheck. People often think that being a flight attendant is all glamour and excitement, but let me tell you, there are days when I feel like I'm stuck in a never-ending cycle of monotony. But despite the bad days, I've had some truly amazing experiences too - from meeting interesting people to seeing beautiful sunrises over vast expanses of ocean.
It's funny how your body becomes a part of your work uniform after a while. People don't even notice me anymore unless I'm handing them their peanuts or taking away their trash. But sometimes, when no one is looking, I catch myself admiring my reflection in the polished surface of an empty seat tray - and suddenly, I feel like that 20-year-old woman again, full of life and possibility.
When the lights go out on the plane, I get to pretend that the darkness between rows doesn't exist. That all the rules we've been following for hours don't apply anymore. It's just me, myself, and my thoughts - lost in a world where time stands still, where gravity holds sway over everything else... Sometimes I wish the whole thing would be like that forever, but of course, it can't be - reality has to creep back in eventually.
