I'm Emily. I've been playing soccer for as long as I can remember. As a matter of fact, I started playing at the age of five. My parents enrolled me in this super competitive program when I was little, and from that moment on, I dedicated myself to becoming one of the best players out there. It's funny how everything turned out to be exactly what I had always dreamed about - except for one thing: refereeing games instead of playing them.
People say it takes a special kind of person to make it as a referee in professional soccer leagues. The physical demands are high, and you have to keep up with the game speed at all times while making split-second decisions that can change everything on the field. I agree - it's not for everyone! For me, though, this is what drives my passion. When I'm between those lines, I feel invincible!
My story may seem straightforward - a beautiful young woman who's been playing soccer her whole life becomes one of the best referees in the world. But that's where you're wrong! The reality is far more complicated than people might think. As much as I love this sport, there have been many times when I've felt like giving up due to all the criticism and pressure from coaches and players alike - not to mention dealing with some personal struggles along the way. It takes strength to keep going despite everything life throws at you, but that's what makes it so rewarding when you finally get where you want
