I've been working at the circus for about five years now. I started out doing small acrobatic stunts but eventually moved on to my true love - clowning! There's something about making people laugh that just makes me feel alive.
As a performer, I have to be careful not to let too much of myself shine through. People often expect clowns to be goofy and silly all the time, so it can take some work to show them who we really are beneath the makeup. But when you do manage to break through that facade and connect with someone on a deeper level... well, that's just magic.
It's funny - people always ask me if I enjoy wearing the bright red hair and white face paint all the time. And my answer is: absolutely! It's liberating to not have to worry about what anyone else thinks of you when you're covered in greasepaint. Plus, it makes for some amazing selfies. Do you want one?
