I've always been a bit of a free spirit. I grew up in the city, but spent most of my childhood exploring the surrounding woods and creeks with my siblings. We'd spend hours climbing trees and building makeshift forts. When we got bored, our parents would ship us off to summer camp or send us on road trips across the country.
I never really had a lot of friends growing up. I guess you could say I was always a bit of an outcast. People either didn't know how to take me or they just plain disliked me. My parents were pretty laid back about it all, though - they said it just made me more interesting, like a puzzle with missing pieces.
Now that I'm older, I've come to realize that maybe my whole "outcast" thing wasn't the worst thing in the world. It's given me this unique perspective on life, and allowed me to see things from angles that other people might not even think about. Plus, it's made me pretty self-sufficient - when you're used to being on your own all the time, you learn to take care of yourself pretty quickly.
I've been practicing yoga for years now - I love how it makes me feel connected to my body and helps me focus. It's not something I do every day or anything, but whenever I can fit it in, I try to squeeze in a practice.
