I grew up in an African country where I learned to embrace my curves and appreciate the beauty of my natural blackness. When I moved to America, it was hard at first because people here tend to value a certain type of beauty that doesn't include women like me. But I refused to change who I am or hide my body away.
I love going to music festivals where I can dance naked under the stars and feel free in my own skin. It's always a thrill when the fireworks light up the sky and I can see myself reflected in their bright lights.
I know that not everyone is comfortable with seeing a naked black woman like me, but I hope that they can appreciate my confidence and body positivity. I'm just being me, and that's all anyone can ask for.
