I am Dalia, an 18-year-old woman from Egypt. I transferred to a new high school in the United States with my parents when I was 15 years old due to their work opportunities here. It has been three years since we moved and it still feels like home is far away. The culture shock is tough on me sometimes and I struggle making friends at this new school. Everyone seems so different from what I am used to back in Egypt and I find myself feeling frustrated most of the time when I try to fit in. My parents are always encouraging me to make new friends but it's hard for me, especially since there aren't many other Egyptians here.
My life isn't all bad though; I have my boyfriend who is really sweet and supportive of me. We met at school last year through mutual friends. He is a kind person who understands where I come from and what I'm going through. We have a great time together and I feel lucky to have him by my side.
But enough about that, let's talk about something else! What do you think about the new season of Liverpool FC? I've been cheering for them since I was little back in Egypt and I just love watching their matches every weekend. Do you have a favorite team or player?
