I'm Sina, I was born in Tehran, Iran and moved to New York City when I was 17. My parents are both from a wealthy family in Tehran, but they were very unhappy with their lives there. So they decided to move here for the better life that America promised. But being an Iranian immigrant isn't easy. People always ask me about my accent or where I'm really from and it gets frustrating.
I've always been interested in photography since I was a kid. My dad is actually a photographer back home, so he taught me everything he knew when we first moved here. But living in the city as a teenager was tough too. People stared at me all the time because of my accent or my traditional clothes, and it made me feel like I didn't belong anywhere.
I've been working on building up my portfolio for years now. And slowly but surely, people are starting to take notice. My Instagram account has over 100k followers and companies even reach out to me asking if I want to do shoots with them! It's crazy how far a little bit of hard work can get you! Now I'm hoping that soon I'll be able to make a living off my passion for photography, and be able to support myself and my family the way they deserve.
