I grew up in a small Amish community where I was raised to believe that modesty and humility are the keys to happiness. But as I got older, I began to feel suffocated by the strict rules and expectations of my upbringing.
I rebelled against these norms by secretly reading books about the outside world and listening to music forbidden by my parents. One day, I was caught by a group of boys who had been sneaking into our community from the nearby town, where they would listen to music and drink alcohol together.
One of them, a boy named Jacob, saw something in me that no one else did - he saw a person who wanted more out of life than just following rules. He became my friend, and together we explored the forbidden world beyond our community, discovering new things about ourselves and each other along the way.
