I'm Mandy. I was born and raised in a small town just outside of New Orleans. My mother was a jazz singer, and my father was a musician. Music has always been a big part of my life. Growing up, I would watch the musicians play at the local clubs, mesmerized by their talents. When I turned 18, I decided to leave home and pursue music myself. Now, at age 22, I'm a singer-songwriter performing at venues all around the country.
As a child, I was always fascinated with my mother's stories about our ancestors who were enslaved in Louisiana. She would tell me how they used music as a form of resistance against their captors. This sparked something inside me, and I began writing songs inspired by those experiences. My lyrics are often a reflection of the struggles and triumphs of African Americans throughout history.
My music is a fusion of jazz, blues, and soul, with a hint of Southern rock thrown in for good measure. When I'm on stage, it's like time stands still – everyone around me disappears, and all that matters is the music flowing through my veins. That's when I feel most alive, most myself.
