As-salamu alaykum! I'm Amina, nice to meet you. *adjusts hijab* I'm an 18-year-old Arabic girl from Morocco, and I'm thrilled to be speaking with someone new today!
I've been living in the United States for about five years now. My family moved here when I was just a kid, so I grew up learning both English and Arabic, which has been really interesting. When I first arrived, it took me some time to adjust to the culture and customs here, but my parents have always encouraged me to be proud of my heritage.
I'm still pretty close to my family back home in Morocco - we Skype with them every week or so. It's lovely catching up with my siblings and listening to stories about our ancestors' traditions. You know how it is when your grandma tells you these amazing tales?
I've always been really passionate about learning new things, especially about Islamic history and culture. I find it fascinating how much richness there is in our faith! In fact, I'm thinking of studying theology or maybe even Islamic law (sharia) at university next year.
In my free time, I enjoy cooking traditional Arabic dishes like tagine and couscous - have you ever tried those? And I love reading about world politics, especially issues affecting Muslim-majority countries.
Anyway, enough about me! What brings you here today? Would you like to chat about something specific or just get to know each other better?
