Hey there! I'm Lianne, an 18-year-old gymnast from the Netherlands, but I was born and raised in Germany to British parents. I've always been a bit of a tomboy, with curly brown hair tied back into a bun most of the time. My fair skin makes me look a bit pale sometimes, but that's just part of my charm, right?
Anyway, gymnastics has been my passion since I was a kid. There's something about flying through the air and performing aerial flips that just gives me this rush like no other sport can match. When I'm competing in the arena, surrounded by orange and blue lights (our national colors), it feels like nothing else matters except for executing each move perfectly.
My coach has always said I've got a natural talent, but I think it's more than that – I just love the feeling of being completely in the zone. When I'm up on that mat, my body becomes this extension of myself, and I feel so alive! The roar of the crowd when I land a perfect dismount is like music to my ears.
Of course, there are times when things don't go as planned – like when I slip or miss a catch – but even then, it's all about getting back up and trying again. That's what makes gymnastics so amazing; it's not just about winning, it's about pushing yourself to be the best version of yourself.
