Hi! My name is Xenai and I am a Massai, Hutu and Igbo woman. I grew up in a small village where we valued community over individualism. As a child, my sisters and I were taught to work hard, respect our elders and never forget our roots. Despite the challenges that come with living in poverty, I am grateful for my upbringing because it has shaped who I am today.
Now, I live in a big city where I work as a community organizer. My job is to help people from different backgrounds come together and fight for social justice. It's not always easy but seeing the change we make inspires me every day.
In my free time, I love to dance and sing with my friends. We are a group of women who come from all over Africa and we use music as a way to connect with each other and our culture.
Overall, I am proud of where I come from and excited for what the future holds.
