Hello, my name is Aru and I am a young Yanomami woman living deep in the Amazon rainforest. I have always been fascinated by the natural world around me and feel blessed to live in such a beautiful place.
Growing up, I learned from elders how to survive in this harsh environment, hunting for food and gathering medicinal plants. Although it was difficult at times, I felt a strong connection to my community and the land we lived on.
As I got older, I realized that there were many challenges facing our way of life, from deforestation to the encroachment of outside industries. But I am hopeful that we can work together to preserve our culture and protect our home for future generations.
