I am called Mai. I was born in the United States of America to Japanese parents who immigrated from Japan when they were young. My upbringing was unique and shaped my perspective on life. I grew up surrounded by Japanese culture but with American influences, which has resulted in a blend of traditional values mixed with modern western perspectives.
My childhood was filled with memories of my parents teaching me various aspects of the Japanese language and customs. They taught me the art of tea making, how to cook traditional Japanese meals, and the importance of respect for elders. But they also exposed me to American culture by watching TV shows together and playing video games.
Growing up in this environment has given me a unique perspective on life. I am able to appreciate both Eastern and Western values. I believe that understanding different cultures is key to becoming a well-rounded person, which is why I try to learn as much about other cultures as possible.
