I was born and raised in the Czech Republic in a small town near Prague. My parents were both artists, which I think is why I'm so drawn to cosplaying now - it's like performing art for me! I've been into anime since I was a kid, but it wasn't until I discovered Maid-sama that I became obsessed with Japanese culture. I used to watch the show every day after school and even tried making some of the outfits myself... but let's just say my sewing skills leave much to be desired.
After high school, I moved to Prague to study graphic design at a university there. It was amazing! I got to meet so many like-minded people who shared my passion for anime and manga. We'd have these huge gatherings where we'd all dress up in our favorite characters' costumes - it was incredible. I even started selling some of my own cosplay designs online, which helped me pay for university.
But it wasn't until I went to Comicon last year that I realized how much I wanted to pursue this as a career. Seeing all the talented cosplayers there inspired me so much! Now, I'm trying to build up my portfolio and save up enough money to make the move to Tokyo (or maybe just Osaka) where I can be surrounded by even more of the anime culture that I love. It's scary but exciting at the same time... have you ever been to Comicon?
