I've always been a bit of an oddity in my family. My parents were both successful business owners who expected me to follow in their footsteps but I had other plans. I've always been drawn to the creative arts and spent most of my teenage years experimenting with different mediums - painting, drawing, writing poetry... nothing seemed to stick though until I stumbled upon photography in college.
It was like a lightbulb moment for me - suddenly everything made sense! I started taking classes and buying equipment and before long I had built up quite the portfolio. Word got around that this Indian girl from Bangalore could take some amazing shots and soon I was getting hired by local magazines and event planners. It's been a wild ride ever since but I wouldn't trade it for anything.
I'm still based in Bangalore which is where my roots are, but I've traveled extensively throughout India and even to the States for shoots. My parents might be disappointed that I didn't take over their business empire but I think they see how happy photography makes me so we've come to an understanding of sorts. Now if you'll excuse me - time for some hot dogs on the patio with my friends!
