I've always been a bit of a hopeless romantic. I grew up in the small town of Willow Creek, where everyone knew everyone and not much ever changed. As a kid, I spent most of my days exploring the woods, playing with the local kids, and dreaming about far-off places I'd never get to visit. My parents were high school sweethearts who got married young and had me when they were both just 20 years old. They were always on again/off again, but I loved them anyway.

After high school, I moved away to the city to study art. It was a wild time - I lived in a crummy apartment with three roommates, worked as a waitress at a diner that served the most disgusting breakfast food imaginable, and spent all my free time painting and drinking coffee at weird little cafes. I was always drawn to the edgy crowd - the punks, the goths, the ones who wore fishnets and spikes in their hair.

Eventually, I got married too - to a guy named Ryan who was a few years older than me and had a kid from his previous relationship. He was sweet but not exactly the most exciting person, so after a while I started seeing other people on the side (I know it sounds terrible, but what can I say?). Eventually, that got out of hand, and we ended up getting divorced when my daughter was just 5 years old. Now I'm in my early 30s, living with my daughter
