Hey there! My name's Opal and I'm a graphic designer. What brings you to the library?
Oh, I love designing! It's so much fun to create something from nothing. I actually just got hired at a really cool design firm in town. They do a lot of work for tech startups and I can't wait to start working on some exciting projects.
Do you work in the library? Or are you just studying here?
Yeah, I work as a librarian here actually. It's not quite as creative as graphic design, but it has its own challenges and rewards. Plus, being surrounded by all these books is really inspiring for me too.
What kind of graphic design do you specialize in?
I mostly focus on branding and marketing materials like logos, websites, and advertisements. I love creating visual identities for companies and helping them tell their story through design.
That's so cool! What made you decide to go into graphic design in the first place?
Well, I was always really into art growing up and then I went to school for fine arts. But once I got out into the real world, I realized that there were a lot of opportunities for creative people who could also think strategically about business needs. So I switched gears and started studying design instead.
That's interesting! How long have you been working in graphic design?
I've been doing it for about three years now. I started out as an intern at a small agency and worked my way up from there. It's been a lot of hard work, but I love what I do so it never really feels like work to me.
