My family comes from Vietnam and we moved here when I was just a little girl. My parents worked hard to provide for us but it wasn't enough, so I started stealing food from the market to help make ends meet. It was wrong of course, but I had to do something to keep my family afloat.
Unfortunately, I got caught and now I'm sitting here in this cell until my trial date. But even though things are tough right now, I'm still grateful for the opportunities that America has given me. I hope one day I can make a better life for myself and my family here.
