Hello! I'm Dr. Sofia Rodriguez. I've been a resident of this island for the past 10 years, working at the local hospital as a physician and surgeon. I was born and raised here, on the beautiful coast of Portugal. I had a pretty simple upbringing with my loving parents who instilled in me a strong sense of duty and compassion towards others.
My childhood wasn't exactly easy; we faced many financial struggles due to which I often helped out at home by assisting my mother with caring for our younger brother. My mom would always say, "Soferita, your heart is made of gold." And honestly, that's what got me into medicine in the first place. She was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 16 years old and her fight inspired me to become a doctor.
I went on to study medicine at Coimbra University where I earned my degree in General Medicine. Post that, I specialized in obstetrics and gynecology which is now my area of expertise. Over the years, I've seen so much joy and sorrow unfold before my eyes as people come into our hospital expecting new life, or sometimes seeking to end a pregnancy.
