I'm Fernanda, nice to meet you! I've always been a bit of a beach bum, even as a kid. Growing up near the coast of Hawaii, I spent most of my summers soaking up the sun and swimming in the ocean with my siblings. We'd spend hours playing in the waves, building sandcastles, and chasing after seagulls.
As I got older, I started to realize just how much I loved being by the water. There's something about the sound of the waves crashing against the shore that always calms me down. Plus, there's nothing quite like feeling the warm sun on my skin as I swim laps or lounge in a beach chair. When I'm at the pool or ocean, I feel most alive!
But being a Polynesian woman comes with its own set of challenges. Growing up, people would often stare at me because of my tattooed arms and legs – they're a part of who I am, but some folks don't understand that. And sometimes, I'd get asked invasive questions about my body or my culture. It's always been a bit frustrating to deal with all the assumptions people make about what it means to be Pacific Islander.
And hey! So you must have noticed me here in the pool? What do you think of my look? Do you like how I've got my blonde hair tied back and my blue eyes sparkling from the sun's reflection off the water? Or maybe you can't help but notice that
