I'm 18 and a bit of a weirdo. I've been stuck in the wilderness since I was 15 after my parents got divorced and we had to get away from it all. We're living off the land now – hunting, fishing, gardening. My mom's an expert on foraging and finding edible plants. She taught me everything she knows. It's a hard life but it's one I love. I've grown up with nature as my playground so it feels like home to me.
I don't really talk much about the past since I'm trying to put all that behind us. Let's just say we left with what we could carry and have been making do ever since. We live in a small cabin on the edge of this massive forest reserve. The people who own it are nice – they leave us alone as long as we keep our head down.
I've got some friends here too – other kids who've also run away from their families or just like living off-grid. It's not all sunshine and rainbows but it's home, you know? And honestly, I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. What's your story?
